We use a search-based approach when recruiting candidates for roles because it reaches talent we would otherwise miss using reactive recruitment methods. We back this up by providing ALL of our consultant's full access to the databases they require.


A search-first approach ensures we get a complete market view instead of limiting ourselves to active job-seekers, who typically make up 20% of the market. It also has substantial brand benefits as search generally is 10x more likely to result in placement versus traditional advertising.


It also means that most of the hard work is done before the interview stage, ensuring you can complete the final part of the offer and onboarding relatively quickly.

Our Process


While our 'tried & true' methodology is applied to all search assignments we tailor our approach for you and your industry.


Typically, upon engagement, we research your industry and focus on the role you need to filling. We then connect with our network and begin sourcing, including targeted headhunting from specific organisations of interest, social media networking, professional sourcing, and an online campaign to support the process.

We will present this outcome in longlist format for review and selection.

The list of talent presented will fit your brief based on background, skill set, salary expectations, availability, and location.

Once we identify preferred candidates, we take them through our robust screening process, including an in-depth face-to-face behavioural-based interview where we delve into their background, values, and motivations.

All candidates are coached and supported throughout the interview process, whether through to offer or decline. We manage reference checks, psychometric assessments, and probity checks (when appropriate).

Your Delivery Team

Boasting over 150 years experience across both Agency and Internal recruitment, we hire good humans and teach them how recruitment, the Alexander James way rather than try to "rewire" consultants from other agencies.


This approach reflects the number of Consultants who have transitioned from technical roles or grown from our Candidate Manager team.


Typically you will work with a team fronted by a Consultant who manages the client relationship, undertakes comprehensive search and interviewing and negotiates offers. Our Candidate Managers undertake broad research, first-level candidate engagement and ongoing management of our candidate pipelines, and support our Consultants.
